New Guinea Wild Boar Tusk Necklace.. Miscellaneous. Tribal. New Guinea Wild Boar Tusk Necklace. 200 mm across. 1960s
Very Good. (N/A). The vendor informed us that this was brought back from New Guinea in the 1960s, it could actually be earlier than that. Various Polynesian tribes presented the boar tusk to be worn around their neck as a symbol of their royal duty for their people. They were distinguished and respected by the Polynesians as one with power and authority over them. A well made piece. There is some grime scattered around and some flaking at the end of the tusks. A very interesting piece. Estimate: $50-75
