G. Moore / Maitland // Trade / (Rearing Lion) / Mark / J. Ross Maker Sydney. Base Mark: J. Ross / Glass / Works / Camperdown. (New South Wales). Aerated Water. Lamont. Applied top. Aqua. 5 oz. 178 mm. 1890s
Very Good. (7.4). A bit of light inner haze in the upper half. Some patchy wear externally, including the upper part of and above the lion, and down the rear in a band mostly between the two lines of embossing but also across the high points of the embossing, this consists of consistent scratching, though nothing overly deep. On this writing only side is an inclusion just above the G, this has a couple of short, fine associated fractures, this is a making mark. Small burst bubble to side base edge. A few little fisheyes and impact marks. Some scratches to be found apart from those already mentioned. Lovely, crude glass in a nice colour. Quite a small bottle, probably only held 5 ounces of liquid. This is the first G. Moore lamont that we have sold, presumably a rare bottle. Estimate: $100-150
