Jackson & Scott / Makers / Macedon // (Illegible) // Jackson & Scott / Makers / Macedon // (Illegible). (Victoria). Miscellaneous. Box. Small wooden box. 210 mm. 1924
Good. (N/A). Jackson & Scott applied to have their sawmill at the Macedon railway station converted into a factory in 1924, I am guessing by this box that they were successful! A very aged box, looks like it is 100 years old, but quite solid considering its age. The nails are rusty. There are knots in the wood. Looks to have been print on at least one of the sides, letters and numbers which would have been a code of some sort. Base looks original, this has splits. Some nails to the side. Some splits as well. Plenty of discolouration and knocks. I thought there was a patch of borer holes to one side, but I think this has been purposefully punched into place? Very interesting box which is likely from 1924 as that is the only year this company was mentioned in the newspapers. Estimate: $50-75
