American Oran // ge Phosphate Co. Base mark: W / (Dot). (Robert Harper, Victoria). Household. Cordial. Applied top, spun finish. Amber. 6 oz. 205 mm. 1890s
Excellent. (8.2). Were at 6 City Road, Melbourne, J. C. Hart was the proprietor. "American Orange Phosphate was a liquid solution of the phosphates of iron, lime and soda, in union with citro-phosphoric acid in such a form as to be readily assimilated by the system," according to an 1897 Prahran Telegraph article, which goes on to state, "the arrival of a consignment of the light amber bottle that is evidence of the genuineness of its contents!" Yes, this very type of bottle! The same article states that Robert harper & Co had undertaken the sole agency for Australia. Now, as to this example, it has a scuffed scratch down the length of the neck. A few other scratches and the odd scuff mark, but overall, this is in great condition. A wonderful item which we have never sold before. Estimate: $30-40
