Near Mint. (9). Speckled and rough looking but all from making. Just a little sign of wear on the base. These are very hard to get and surprisingly late. Sutherlands became John Sutherland & Sons Pty Ltd in 1932. They began ordering plain bung jars from Bendigo Pottery in 1941. Only in late 1948 do they finally order jars with the stamps described in the records matching the stamps on this jar. They ordered 500 at the time and when they tried to order more were told that Bendigo Pottery had stopped making these bung jars for anyone! Estimate: $250-500
