J Munro. // E. Fowler / (Figure 8 or Bow Tie) / Sydney. (New South Wales). Ginger Beer. Impressed. Dump shape. Impressed. Grey. 10 oz. 176 mm. Late 1830s - 1840s
Near Mint. (9). 8 x 2 mm mark to the right lip has some shine to it so looks to be from making. Very shallow 4 x 3 mm chip or kiln kiss to the outer left lip. Larger kiln kiss to the front shoulder below the Munro stamp. A couple of other small kiln kisses and making marks on the back. At the back base edge is a 5 x 3 mm "chip" but again this is at the end of a line where the bottle has stuck in the kiln and also seems to have occurred when made. Stunning example of a very rare bottle. Two good strong stamps, pretty much lined up down the front and wonderful glaze. A great opportunity to get a real piece of history. Estimate: $10000-15000
Reserve: $10,000
