Registered / A. Geal / 1-12-1903. Plate impressed: Watcombe / Torquay / 1189. (Nunawading, Victoria). Pottery. Geal. Domed cheese or butter cooler. Tesselated bottom edge. Decoration. Plain round plate. Dome is about 160 mm tall. 1900s
Good. (N/A). Pretty much all the bottom edge of the dome has shallow chipping and the like. A bit of stain inside. Lots of consistent wear all over. Also quite crude. Really nice strong stamp. Unusual piece from this Victorian pottery. The base plate with it is from a UK pottery but the wear pattern to both suggests these were used together for a very long time. The plate has a large chip to one side. Heavy wear over the middle surface. Really interesting item. Estimate: $50-100
