Sold for A$3,900
(Blue Cross) / Ginger Beer / Tasmanian / Hobart / Cordials Ltd. Potters stamp: "Bendigo Pottery" in ink stamp to the back. (Tasmania). Demijohn. Printed. Handled stoneware Demijohn. Blue Lip. Blue Print. Spigot hole to front. 2 Gallon. 384 mm. 1900s
Good. (6.7). Difficult to grade, this has a series of hairlines right around the neck and shoulder, including the handle, and some crazing to the lower part, however, we feel that these are from making. Some wear with the odd glaze flake to the lip. Rusty mark to rear near handle. Some crude dints and marks around the base. Some discoloured spots, glaze scuffs and scratches to be found. The only demijohn that we know of that has blue top and blue print. Superb and rare demijohn! (Still the only one we have had through as this is the same example as sold in Auction 13, Lot 410). Estimate: $2000-3000.
Reserve: $2,000.00
