E. S. A / Ink (in two ribbons on the front). No potters stamp but definitely a Bendigo Pottery made piece. (Victoria). Ink. Stoneware. Stoneware barrel with applied ribbon decoration. All White. Half Gallon. 273 mm. 1910s
Very Good. (7.9). Ink stain that has leached through around the body and base. A couple of shallow chips on the lip of 7 x 6 and 6 x 4 mm. 5 x 3 mm chip to the under edge of the rim at the back. Kiln kiss to the lower front. Lovely piece and quite rare. The Educational Supply Association Ltd were an English based company who had a sales office in Melbourne at least during the 1910s. Obviously enough of a presence to warrant getting Bendigo Pottery to make these barrels for them. Interesting top with gaps in the rim to either side for a lid to be put over and locked into place. Estimate: $250-500
