Good. (6.2). A wonderful piece of Victorian Goldfields history. Dr L. L. Smith was an early Victorian parliamentarian and heavily involved in the early development of the colony. These ointment pots were made to try to take some of the huge market enjoyed by Holloways. Letters sent to England at the time show the Smith pots and lids were first ordered around 1856-7. Chip in two parts on the front lip: 6 x 3 mm to the front and 9 x 3 mm on top. Stained 27 mm hairline down the back, visible outside and inside the pot but barely felt with a fingernail. Spot of stain and some crazing. Base edge has a 3 x 2 mm chip under the left side and four or five fleabites around it. Print is a little folded and blurry in the middle. Nice piece of Australian goldfields era history. Estimate: $250-500
