Very Good. (7.2). 10 x 3 mm scrape through the glaze to inner rear lip. Similar mark to inner left lip. 4 x 3 mm flake to upper left rear lip. 12 x 6 mm chip to outer front left lip. 17 x 7 mm chip to outer front lip. 19 x 8 mm chip to outer right rear lip. 4 x 3 mm flake to left edge of upper handle. Fine hairline under the upper part of the handle. Some glaze misses and drips to the left shoulder region. Some scratches to be found. Mid front left body has a patch of wear over only 30 x 10 mm. Some other little patches of wear. A bit of fine discolouration. Solid example of a rare demijohn, the lip chips are all relatively minor. Thomas Guthrie came from Kyneton to Shepparton in 1874, he owned 1,400 acres of land just out of Shepparton and was one of the largest milk suppliers to the Shepparton Butter Factory. We have never sold one of these before. Estimate: $300-500
