Sold for A$330

W. Pratt / General Merchant / Kyabram. No potters stamp. (Victoria). Demijohn. Impressed. Two tone, tan top, off white body. Impressed. Handled. 1 Gallon. 301 mm. 1920s

Good. (6.4). 30 x 13 mm chip out of right rear lip. 6 x 4 mm flake to outer right lip. 10 x 6 mm flake to upper front lip, only just through the glaze, in fact some of it is not even through the glaze. Making split to inner upper handle. Scratches and wear to outer handle. About a 250 mm hairline starting at the right shoulder and then curving down the right rear to the base edge. Some scratches and wear around the body, mostly around the upper part of the white section. Pratt was a storekeeper at Kyabram for a good 40 years from the early 1900s to the late 1940s at least. This demijohn likely dates to the middle period. A rare item, different version to the one other example that we sold way back in 2012. Estimate: $200-300
