Large round chocolate glazed Chinese Teapot.. Chinese. . Round. Fancy Handle and spout. Chocolate glaze. About 210 mm. 19th century
Very Good. (7.3). Spout has a 10 x 4 mm flake to the end of it, the underside also has a 9 x 4 mm chip. Lid seat looks fairly chipped on one side, cannot be seen with the original lid in place. Has a bit of a grimy appearance. 9 x 5 mm flake to edge of one of the ends of the handles. The opposite end has a nibbled flake to its outer edge over about 15 x 5 mm and another at the top of about 7 x 4 mm, another little mark next to this. Typical crude making marks. Looks a bit stained under the base and has a bit of an oily odour internally. Maybe these are not actually a teapot, this could have held an oil based substance of some sort? A great piece, we have sold these in green before, but never this chocolate colour! Estimate: $200-300
