Lock's Infallible Salve. No potters mark. (Hobart, Tasmania). Pot Lid. Pot. Cream coloured with impressed writing. 30 mm. 30 mm. 1890s
Very Good. (7.4). 22 mm discoloured hairline down from the left rim. Tiny surface nick or two to inner rim. Front right rim has a little flat spot, this is a making mark. 3 x 1 mm scrape just through the glaze to front base edge under the IB if Infallible. This is the smallest of three advertised sizes. These were made at Campbell's Pottery in Launceston and are a very rare, sought after item for both ointment pot collectors, and local pottery collectors! There were several wholesale agents across Tasmania, pretty much all of the main pharmacies were advertised as being agents. This was a product of the Infallible Remedy Co., Hobart and was advertised in three different sizes - I am sure I have seen four different sizes of this pot though? Estimate: $750-1000
