Cobalt quilted salad oil. Base mark: Registered (with reversed S) / (British Registration Diamond) / 30 May 1850. Also has a pontil. Applied lip ring and flared lip. 4 neck rings, tapered diamond pattern neck above three rings around mid body, tapered lower body with panels and a slightly inset base. Cobalt. 13 oz. 252 mm. 1850
Very Good. (7.1). Possibly acid dipped to shine it up. Long neck bubble, about 33 x 4 mm of this is burst in the upper region Some wear to the diamond pattern on the shoulder on one side, also to the rings above and below this. Lower body ring has a 4 x 2 mm impact or spot of deep wear. A few scratches and another scuff or two to be found. There has been a 10 x 10 mm chip to the heel where the D of registered was, probably a burst bubble in all likelihood. This has been filled with resin, and the person doing the job has made another D! A really good job. Solid example of a very sought after and beautiful bottle. This is part of the late Kingsley Durdin collection. Estimate: $1500-2000
