Sold for A$7,400
Longmore's Gold Medal Perfection / (Gladiator) / Cherry Tooth Paste. (Melbourne, Victoria). Pot Lid. Tooth Paste. Round lid with red outer design and green gladiator. Medium size. No base. 78 mm diameter. 1900s
Very Good. (7.4). Same lid as sold in Auction 12, Lot 769. 15 mm dark horseshoe hairline mainly to outer flange at around 11 o'clock, only about 6 mm of this is visible on the face. At 12 o'clock there is a 10 mm hairline running along the outer edge. Outer flange has a 28 by up to 11 mm flake chip, this does not go through the thickness of the flange and would be an easy repair, also, it is not at all visible from the front anyway. A 10 mm hairline goes along the bottom edge from this. Somr fine crazing throughout with just a little fine discolouration in places. A decent example, when last sold this had rusty crazing throughout, it has since been cleaned leaving it looking considerably better. This does not have a base. This is only the second example we have handled of this very rare lid which is highly sought after by seasoned collectors. Estimate: $4000-6000
