British Registration Diamond / (Rearing Horse) / Registered. Base Mark: (Dot). (Black Horse Ale, Tooth & Co). Beer. Black Glass. Applied standard top with collar below lip. Black. Squat Shape. 26 oz. 255 mm. 1850s-1860s
Very Good. (7.5). Crude lip folds from making, there is a little nibbled mark to left lip edge. Inner dirt, this should soak out. A few shallow surface bubbles. Some small patches of surface wear, one to the right lip, one to left of the registration diamond, larger patch to rear shoulder, and some others scattered around. General light scratches and scuffs throughout. A bit of fine surface wear to the horse as well. Very good example of this classic, a bit unusual to see a squat black horse with this more traditional lip style to it, these are nearly always the mushroom style lip, or the flat sided lip. In fact, scrolling through all of our previous sales, we have only ever sold one other example in the squat style with this type of lip on it! Estimate: $750-1000
