Square stoneware ink with pouring lip. Speckled appearance.. Ink. Stoneware. Square stoneware ink with pouring lip. Speckled appearance. 133 mm. 1880s
Very Good. (7.3). The vendor found this at an early site in suburban Melbourne many years ago. We presume it is an ink bottle with the pouring lip in place. The darker cream coloured glaze has extensive black speckles throughout. Little nick to inner lip. 5 x 4 mm flake to corner on mid body. 4 x 2 mm flake to opposite corner a bit higher up the body. Little lumps scattered around are making marks. Most unusual item, we suggested 1880s, but may actually be earlier? Estimate: $20-30
