Very Good. (7.3). Not sure what this held, some form of foodstuff, but probably not mustard as their mustard jars are well known and a different shape. Interesting that this was designed by G. Batty himself in 1844, so would date to soon after that. This would have had a lid, which is no loner in place. Extremely rare, only one I can find was sold by AA Auctions in 2020, listed as possibly unrecorded, and it was restored. This has a 9 x 3 mm chip to upper right rear lid seat. 6 x 4 mm flake to left heel. Couple of other smaller heel flakes which have been glazed over from making. Nick to front base edge has some discolouration around it. A bit of fine discolouration. Some fine scratches and minor marks. A great example, far better than the aforementioned example. This is from the late Kingsley Durdin collection. Estimate: $300-400
