Handyside's / Blood Purifier. No base mark. (United Kingdom). Medicine. Cure. Applied top. Black. 26 oz. 275 mm. 1880s
Very Good. (7.2). Thanks to AA Auctions: "George Handyside, was a well known manufacturing chemist in Newcastle. He was also a business magnate and purveyor of elixirs (including even a cure for alcoholism) and who wrote his own book 'Every Man Should Be His Own Doctor' which sold over 1 million copies." This example has some fine inner dirt that looks like it will soak out. Large T shaped bubble to front amongst the upper embossing, there is 7 x 4 mm burst part to the upper part of the "junction" of this T which is quite deep, but from making. Another little surface bubble or two. Some scuffs and scratches scattered around. Quite an imposing and impressive looking bottle. There are three different Handyside bottles in this auction. Estimate: $100-150
