2 / T. Davis / Burnie. / To close the tap / turn hole in handle to front / DO NOT raise the Tap on turning. Potters stamp: Pearson & Co / Whittington / Moor / Chesterfield. (Tasmania). Demijohn. Printed. Two tone, tan top, off white body. Black print. Internal Thread. 2 Gallon. 400 mm. 1920s
Very Good. (7.3). No stopper. Wide outer part of lip has a band of wear right around it. Little nick to rear shoulder, front shoulder has a 7 x 4 mm flake type mark which has been touched up with a bit of colour, this is very minor. Hairline starts just under the base at the front, this goes through the very middle of the tap protrusion and continues up from there a further 40 mm or so. 8 x 5 mm nibbled flake to right of the tap is a glaze pop from making, this is actually slightly raised. A few little glaze pops down the left side. A few scratches here and there. A decent example of a rare Tasmanian demijohn. Estimate: $600-800
